Based in the mountains of Appalachia, Peia draws from a deep well of Celtic and Old World European folk traditions. Her work moves between the ancient and the original, carrying old songs forward while creating new music rooted in place, memory, and the natural world.

Her unmistakable voice has carried her from Child Ballads and 17th-century Irish laments to Scottish waulking songs and Bulgarian mountain calls, traditions she has traveled extensively to study and embody over more than a decade. Yet Peia’s work has never been solely about looking backward. At its heart is an exploration of what these old songs can awaken in the present, and how music can give form to our relationship with ancestry, nature, belonging, and one another.

With three studio albums and more than a decade of international touring, Peia has cultivated a dedicated global following. Her newest body of work marks an expansion of that musical world, bringing her roots in traditional song into conversation with a more expansive landscape of original songwriting and sound.
